Breakfast Meeting

We are not looking at providing just a “hand-out”; a similar programme in Melbourne shows that a number of the recipients have been able to turn their lives around. Being well-slept, well-fed, clean and well-groomed some found themselves able to turn their lives around from being “on the streets” to being “not on the streets.”

This is most emphatically not a “mission”: there will be no attempt to evangelise or proselytise; simply an unconditional gift.

The beds are moved from church hall to church hall by Lifeline and our church volunteer members take care of the laundry. On our night we also provide the evening meal purchased from Meals on Wheels at $10 per person. A maximum of 15 persons will be in the shelter, so we are seeking community donations of $150 per week for the 13 weeks of Winter.

The whole project is “times 7” of course, for the seven churches taking part – each for one night of the week.
